How to use Twitter to Market your Business – Part 1

twitter logo header 150x36 How to use Twitter to Market your Business Part 1

Today I would like to talk about how to use twitter to build your niche mailing list.

In my last post about Capturing emails on your website you found out how to get your website traffic to opt-in to your email list (If you haven’t read that post read it first). Now I will show you an effective way to drive traffic to your site using Twitter and a software called Market Me Suite.

Following is an exerpt from Twitter’s website about how Twitter works and how it can be used to benefit your business. If your familiar with Twitter than you may want to skip down below the section “A key benefit“.

How does Twitter Work?

Twitter lets you write and read messages of up to 140 characters, or the very length of this sentence, including all punctuation and spaces. The messages are public and you decide what sort of messages you want to receive—Twitter being a recipient driven information network. In addition, you can send and receive Twitter messages, or tweets, equally well from your desktop or your mobile phone.

When you combine messages that are quick to write, easy to read, public, controlled by the recipient and exchangeable anywhere, you’ve got a powerful, real-time way to communicate. And real-time communication is turning out to be ground-breaking for users and businesses alike.

How Can I use Twitter with my business?

Twitter connects you to your customers right now, in a way that was never before possible. For example, let’s say you work for a custom bike company. If you run a search for your brand, you may find people posting messages about how happy they are riding your bikes in the French Alps—giving you a chance to share tips about cyclist-friendly cafes along their route.

Others may post minor equipment complaints or desired features that they would never bother to contact you about—providing you with invaluable customer feedback that you can respond to right away or use for future planning. Still others may twitter about serious problems with your bikes—letting you offer customer service that can turn around a bad situation.

You don’t have to run a bike shop or a relatively small company to get good stuff out of Twitter. Businesses of all kinds, including major brands, increasingly find that listening and engaging on the service leads to happier customers, passionate advocates, key product improvements and, in many cases, more sales.

But Twitter isn’t just about useful immediacy. The conversational nature of the medium lets you build relationships with customers, partners and other people important to your business. Beyond transactions, Twitter gives your constituents direct access to employees and a way to contribute to your company; as marketers say, it shrinks the emotional distance between your company and your customers. Plus, the platform lends itself to integration with your existing communication channels and strategies. In combination, those factors can make Twitter a critical piece of your company’s bigger digital footprint.

For instance, let’s say you run a big retail website. In addition to learning more about what your customers want, you can provide exclusive Twitter coupon codes, link to key posts on your blog, share tips for shopping online, and announce specials at store locations. And you can take things a step further by occasionally posting messages about fun, quirky events at your HQ, giving others a small but valuable connection with the people in your company.

A key benefit

This is great for branding your company image – something that we will discuss in fuuture posts.

How do I drive traffic from twitter to my website?

I have been using a Software called Market Me Suite to drive traffic from twitter to this website as well as other sites for companies that I work with.  This software allows you  to “brand your tweets”. This is the term they use which I find a little confusing because it implied to me that I could use the software to dress up and customize me twitter page. It does not do that but, what it does is allow each of your individual tweets to say, “via www.yourwebsite.com or via your name”. This is a link that your followers can click to link back to your website. So now you wont need to include you site url in every link because it will automatically be at the bottom of every tweet thus driving hordes of traffic to your site. Once on the site they will be exposed to your pop-up that you created with POP-UP Domination.

Notice the link under my tweet that says, "via Realnichemarketing.com"

From there on you will be building a very targeted niche market email list. In my next post we will discuss how to grow your Twitter followers with very niche people that would be interested in your business and a cool tool that you can use to do it on autopilot.

How to Capture Emails on Your Website

How to Capture Emails on Your Website

Bear trap 300x194 How to Capture Emails on Your Website

Yesterday I blogged about using an Apple App to drive traffic to your site and capture a niche audience. Today I want to focus on the Capture.

Lets face it, at first you probably are purchasing lists that may or may not be fairly accurate and up-to-date. Either way they are expensive Also, before doing that there is much thought that has to go into defining  “what is my customer base”? But an email home list that you can create because of capturing the emails of people who have come to your site is going to be by far the most accurate and direct to your ideal niche customer. Think about it, They are on your web site to see your content or because they are using something you created or have sold them that has lead them back to your site.

So, How Do You Capture Their Email?
You have to have a pop-up (not as dirty a word as you think). The pop-up will appear when they enter any page on your site and will offer them something of value (ideally a download-able ebook or pdf brochure) in exchange for their name and email. The content of your giveaway has to have value for them. So much value that they are willing to exchange their email for it.

You may have noticed such a pop-up on this blog site. For this I have used a program designed for very non-computer minded people like myself that makes it very easy to install and implement into your own site. If you would like to purchase this product yourself you can use this link : POP-UP Domination

The key here though is that whenever possible get emails! That way when you have a product or service to sell than you can sell it directly to the person that will benefit most from it. Really, that is what niche marketing is all about.

I wish you success in your business and please feel free to comment.

Build an Apple App?

apple app store 300x300 Build an Apple App?

I just watched a great Video about Dom Sagolla the co-creator of Twitter. He gives kind-of awkward information on his system for creating an apple App for iPhones and iPads at the rate of 1 a month. It impressive! It reminded me that building or having an App built (more likely the need for most of us) is an excellent way to reach a niche market and make a few bucks.

The Apple APP store is a fantastic tool for reaching out to a niche customer base. Your idea for an App can and will have to be very basic so that you are able to sell the initial version for only 99 cents. With very little recognition on the Apple store you will achieve your investment return as well as a captured niche audience that is using your app which should have built in credits to your website. Ideally your website will be set up to both monitor the traffic as well as capture their  email. Both of these subjects I plan on discussing deeper in future posts.
